Cameroon Journal, Yaoundé – Four persons sustained severe injuries last Friday when a privately owned Toyota Rav4 SUV collided with one of the posh vehicles belonging to the Prime Minister’s motorcade around Baba I, in Ngoketunjia Division.
The incident took place as PM Yang was returning from his back-to-school crusade in Kumbo, Bui Division, and transiting through Bamenda to Yaounde.
Eye witnesses said the accident occurred after one of the vehicles in the PM’s convoy hit the Rav4, causing it to derail into the Baba I market leaving four of its occupants with severe injuries.
Our source who witnessed the incident said the Rav4, privately owned, was knocked out next to one having onboard the governor of the North West Region.
The Prime Minister, we gathered, stopped briefly at the scene of the incident without stepping out of his car, before taking off for Bamenda.
The injured persons were immediately rushed to a nearby health facility in Baba I. At press time yesterday, we gathered they were still being hospitalised.
